Jenny Lake and Inspiration Point.

The plan for today was to take a boat across Jenny Lake, hike to Inspiration Point then hike round the rest of the lake returning to the car park, about 8 miles in total. I was awake early as I'd read that Jenny Lake car park filled up early. When we looked out it was raining but had it had stopped by the time we set off in the car. We parked easily and reached the boat dock by 9 am unfortunately the boat service didn't start until 10 am! Rather than wait we just reversed our plans.

For the first couple of miles we met very few people and the weather was improving all the time.

The southern shore was quite wooded but the northern shore was more open and had lovely colours as the leaves had started to turn.

After 5 miles we reached the bottom of Inspiration Point trail and began the 1.2 mile uphill hike. By now it was probably in the mid 20's. It was hard going but definitely worth it.

We returned to the lake and caught the boat across the lake.

We made it back to our cabin at Signal Mountain Lodge and spent some time relaxing on our balcony and taking in the view of the mountains and an evening stroll beside Jackson Lake.
