Last night we rented canyoning shoes and walking sticks in preparation for The Narrows. I was quite excited, Hazel wasn't so sure! The river water was looking rather muddy because of the recent storm we experienced in Bryce. The guy in the rental shop described it as 'tanned'.
The Narrows is a Canyon with the Virginia River running through it. After 3 miles hiking in the river you reach Wall Street where the canyon is 22 ft wide and the sides 1500 ft high. Quite an impressive and intimidating place to be.
The company we rented the equipment from suggested we tried to make it as far up as the Floating Rock, I wasn't sure we would manage it but very pleased we did.
We've had the alarm set between 5:30 and 7:30 for the last 2 weeks so as a special treat we've set it for 8 tomorrow morning!
You're going to need a holiday when you get back. Then again you've probably got your next one booked already!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention that, we already have a future holiday plan in action!
DeleteNow that's a treat!!! Glad you made it up the Narrows.
